According to Delaware law, licensure is required for individuals practicing as and/or labeling themselves as Dietitians or Nutritionists in the state of Delaware. Help Ensure Consumers Are Protected with The Academy’s New Incident Reporting Tool

The Academy developed the Incident Reporting Tool to support its efforts to protect the public, enhance the quality of nutrition care and promote self-regulation of the profession. The IRT fills a critical gap in supplementing the documentation of noteworthy incidents in the provision of nutrition care services across the country. Patients, members of the general public and health care practitioners can now easily document examples of successful nutrition care, showing the value of qualified practitioners. In addition, incidents of harm or unethical practice can be submitted using the IRT. The Academy/CDR Code of Ethics requires reporting cases of harm, and this tool provides a uniform and easy mechanism to do so and complements reports to state licensure boards. The information collected from the IRT will be used to facilitate stakeholders and policymakers’ understanding of the value of qualified RDN care, including elected leaders, federal and state agency officials, other health care providers and the public. To learn more about the IRT and to submit report of harm or success, click here.

not all certificates are created equal

Competition to provide nutrition services is widespread and growing, and licensing protects the public by requiring practitioners to meet standards of competency.

continuing professional education prior approval

The Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) has switched to a paperless system for prior approval of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) activities.

All activities and their supporting materials are now submitted directly to the CDR database by the organization's contact, and then reviewed by the Delaware affiliate reviewer online for a fee.

Activity verifications are generated by the CDR CPE Database.

If you have any questions, please contact the CPE Evaluator at DANDCPEEvaluator@gmail.com.
